Why is this picture an example of art?  Of course it is considered art because of the fact that it is a painted picture, but it holds a deeper meaning.  When I saw this picture I realized how there truly is no one way to look at art.  You have to analyze it in all different ways and understand why it is art.  This is an example of art because it makes the audience think out of the box and truly twists the audience’s mind.  I’m curious, when you first looked at this picture did you see a girl floating looking at the sky, or drifting into space?

I first saw the sky. The rest kind of freaked me out. Is that girl dead or sleeping?

I am guessing you guys are starting the discussions on what is high art? I just wanted to say I love this paining, the way it is divided into three different scenes. It uses the division of thirds and draws the readers eye to different parts. As someone who loves nature, I was instantly drawn to the scene of the forest and lake. Very cool painting
